What to Do for Anxiety and Panic Attacks
One. Talk with Someone.
Contact your medical doctor or find someone to talk with if you need to. I found great relief talking with a naturopath who really listened to me.
One of the best remedies for anxiety attacks is acknowledging the anxiety, the attack, the concerns truly helps and you find that you are not alone.
Two. Add Some Supplements.
Take Calcium and Magnesium which are natural tranquilizers.
Take Vitamin C which is necessary for the proper function of adrenal glands and brain chemistry. In large doses, Vitamin C has a tranquilizing effect known to decrease anxiety.
Three. Change Your Diet.
- eat small meals
- limit animal protein
- eat meals high in complex carbs and vegetable protein
- avoid sugar
- avoid caffeine
Four. Exercise.
Exercise is amazing for anxiety and panic attacks!
Walking the challenging streets of San Francisco was what got me feeling better and ultimately stopped the attacks.
Exercise and movement remove the stress out of the muscles of the body and the breathing that comes along with cardio exercise replenishes the blood cells.
Start with walking or yoga.
Five. Get Your Mind Right.
Bringing yourself into the present moment is very powerful. Often our minds are carried away thinking and worrying and stopping that process and coming back to the moment is the key to stopping the anxious panic thoughts.
Additionally, Turn off the news. Stay off Social Media. See how your mind feels better.
Six. Breathe and Relax.
Breathing and relaxation techniques are useful tools, especially during a panic or anxiety attack.
Breathing and relaxation techniques give you something to return to at the moment.
Lavender essential oil applied externally acts as a relaxant.

Seven. Acupressure Points.
Acupressure is a form of traditional Chinese medicine that can provide temporary relief from anxiety symptoms.
Acupressure works by stimulating specific pressure points in your body, either on your own or with the help of an acupuncturist.
One of the easiest is known as the Hall of Impression Point.
This point lies between your eyebrows and applying pressure to this point helps both anxiety and stress.
Sit comfortably, close your eyes, touch the spot with your index finger or thumb and take slow, deep breaths and apply gentle, firm pressure in a circular motion for 5 to 10 minutes.
Using with an Essential Oil is helpful.
Eight. Find a Focus Object.
Having a focus object helps too during a panic or anxiety attack.
A focus object is an object you can hold and focus attention on until you can calm your thoughts and bring yourself back into the present moment.
A focus object is best if it is something you can hold in your hands such as a small rock or plastic doll or animal.
I personally love wearing mala or prayer beads on my wrist. Just the pressure and presence of the beads is comforting and rubbing a bead between two fingers is strangely relaxing and comforting.
