1. Start with a Primer. Primers fill in the lines, fade imperfections, correct color imperfections, and overall even out the skin tone.
This one, Prime & Perfect, from Pure Anada has Primer and Concealer in one. These products are organic with clean ingredients, vegan, and just lovely to wear.
For great-looking eyes, use an eyelid primer — especially if you have moist eyes or your eye shadow tends to smear. Prime & Perfect above is great or this one from Thrive Causemetics.
2. Correctly color correct. For zits, age spots, red spots, use a good concealer. Next, read Clever Girl’s article on good color correcting.
3. Use a sheer foundation or tinted moisturizer. Pictures are best with a natural, youthful skin color look. Read Clever Girl’s Article on Tinted Moisturizer. Check out Clever Girl’s Favorite Tinted Moisturizer from Pure Anada. Use CODE CleverGirlPureAnada for 25% Off
4. Avoid 100% silica powders. Silica reflects light and 100% silica powders bounce light off your face and into the camera image. Ka-bling!Yikes!
5. Stay Away from Shine in the Middle. Use a nice translucent powder and keep the middle of your face shine-free.
6. Don’t forget your neck. Camera images will show if you stopped your foundation at your jawline so apply all foundations below the jawline. Also, remember the neck and décolletage. Read Clever Girl’s Article on caring for the decolletage.
7. Color your brows a little deeper. Eyebrows lift your eyes, deepen the color around your eyes, and identify bone structure on the face. Further, photographs often wash out brows especially at the tail end of the brow so be sure to color in the tails of your eyebrows.
8. Use a liquid eyeliner versus a pencil eyeliner for pictures. Liquid eyeliners are more precise and deepen the color versus pencil eyeliners that can smear and blur. If you prefer an eye pencil liner, go for the more expensive choices with high-pigment color.
9. Brighten your blush color or use a highlighter. Brighten your blush color and blend it well around the edges with a good blush brush. Likewise, avoid sparkly blush but go for a vibrant color or highlighter like this one from Pure Anada.
10. Use a lipliner. Trace the edges of your lips with a pencil that is one shade darker than your lipstick. Use a pencil to emphasize your upper V and outer corners for definition. Also, avoid harsh lines and soften the edges a bit with your finger, then apply your lip color.
11. Relax, smile, and feel pretty from the inside out!
